Hodge Helps Royal Finish 3rd in Volleyball Tournament

Outside hitter Steve Hodge had 53 kills in 12 games to lead Royal High to a third-place finish in the Dos Pueblos volleyball tournament in Santa Barbara on Saturday.
The Highlanders went 8-0 in pool play, defeating Palisades, Santa Margarita, Alemany and San Marcos before beating Brentwood, 15-6, in the quarterfinals.
The Highlanders eventually lost, 15-13, to Esperanza in the semifinals.
Hodge, a senior, made the all-tournament team. Senior outside hitter Jason Hughes added 51 kills, and setter Josh White had 124 assists.
Royal is 3-0 on the season.
