VAN NUYS : Disabled Workers to Plant Trees, Flowers
- Share via
The Independent Living Center of Southern California will send out volunteers with disabilities to plant trees and flowers in areas along Van Nuys Boulevard affected by last year’s riots.
About 25 businesses along Van Nuys Boulevard will be targeted for the one-year Urban Greening Project, funded by a $15,000 grant from the U. S. Forest Service.
The project will be staffed by people with disabilities served by the Independent Living Center in Van Nuys, director Norma Vescovo said. Disabled workers will plant the greenery and maintain it for the duration of the project, she said.
