GARDEN GROVE — One man was dead and another in custody on suspicion of homicide after a stabbing early Sunday, police said.
Moises Vazquez, 34, of Garden Grove was walking north through an alley off Stuart Drive near the intersection of Rockinghorse Road on the way to his apartment at about 2:10 a.m. when he apparently got into an argument with another man, Police Sgt. Paul Prince said.
The argument escalated and Vazquez was stabbed, Prince said. Vazquez died of his injuries later Sunday at UCI Medical Center in Orange.
Police arrested Ascencion Perez, 34, also of Garden Grove, at the scene of the stabbing and recovered the weapon, Prince said.
Perez was held at Orange County Jail on suspicion of homicide and his bail was set at $250,000, Prince said.
About two hours after the stabbing, police responded to a report of a random shooting into an apartment in the same area. It was not known if the shooting was related to the stabbing, although detectives were investigating, Prince said.
