Cellular Rate Cuts Reconsidered: Under pressure from the state’s cellular operators, the California Public Utility Commission agreed to review an earlier decision that would have changed how cellular telephone rates are set and resulted in rate drops of 30% or more. The commission also promised to undertake a full evaluation of the regulatory issues arising from the emerging new market for wireless communications. Cellular service resellers, which had sought the initial ruling, expressed disappointment at the commission’s decision, while cellular operators said they were pleased.
