Crime Victims

* This is a response to the letter (Oct. 1) from mugging victim Lynn Hanson-Rowe, who complained about the handling of her case by the district attorney’s office. She sent us a copy of the same letter a month ago. We immediately investigated to determine what had happened, the charges were refiled on Sept. 29 and the case is proceeding. We have extended a heartfelt apology to the victims, and the new deputy district attorney assigned to the case is in contact with them.
We do not want people to be victimized by the justice system after being victimized by criminals. Occasionally it happens and if we are made aware of the problem, we immediately attempt to remedy the wrong.

Director of Central Operations
L.A. County District Attorney’s Office
