In another Division II match:
Edison 11, Marina 7--Tami Demaree and Michelle Turner swept their sets, 6-3, 6-0, 6-0, to lead Edison, the No. 3 seed, to the quarterfinal victory over Sunset League opponent Marina. The victory was the third of the season over Marina.
In Division I:
Corona del Mar 9, Santa Barbara 9 (Corona del Mar wins on games 84-67)--The singles players for Corona del Mar, Marcie Asch, Megan Wachtler and Ranee Rhodes won six of their nine sets, running up a 36-3 advantage in the victories to lead the team to victory in the quarterfinal match. Corona del Mar will meet Palos Verdes Peninsula in the semifinals, a rematch of Corona del Mar’s most lopsided defeat of the season, 17-1, to Peninsula.
Newport Harbor 13, Camarillo 5--Mara Colaizzi swept her sets, 6-1, 6-0, 6-0, and the doubles teams of Genevieve Evarts and Kim Lewis, Lindsay Olson and Vanessa Goddey also swept. Evarts-Lewis won, 7-6, 6-4, 6-3. Olson-Goddey won, 6-0, 6-3, 6-3. The Sailors are 18-2.
Palos Verdes Peninsula 17, El Toro 1--The doubles team of Kate Kunath and Janaye Johnson won the only set for El Toro, which finished 11-10. Peninsula is the top-seeded team.
In Division III:
Los Alamitos 11, Sunny Hills 7--The doubles team of Veronica Selby and Michelle Schneider swept their sets, 6-2, 6-0, 6-1, to lead Los Alamitos (16-3) to the quarterfinal victory.
El Dorado 14, Corona Centennial 4--A singles sweep led El Dorado (16-5) into a semifinal match against top-seeded North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake. Linda Surapruik won, 6-0, 6-1, 6-3; Susan Surapruik won, 6-0, 6-1, 6-0, and Yetee Osunsanmi won, 6-0, 6-0, 6-2.
In Division IV:
Valencia 10, Santa Ynez 8--Renee Williams won all her matches without losing a game, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0, and Jenny Gonzalez lost only one game, 6-0, 6-1, 6-0. Valencia (20-3) will play the winner of Chadwick vs. Claremont Vivian Webb.
Pasadena Poly 17, Savanna 1--Savanna won only one set from the top-seeded team as they fell in the quarterfinals. Savanna finished the season 15-5.
