The California Highway Patrol reported 14 drunk driving arrests in the first 24 hours of the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
The holiday brought the usual heavy traffic to Ventura County’s highways, but the CHP reported no major accidents during the period that began Wednesday evening.
A special advisory for high winds was in effect Friday, a CHP spokeswoman said. The winds, which produced gusts of up to 30 m.p.h., were expected to subside today, the National Weather Service said.
As the winds diminish, temperatures are expected to rise into the mid- to upper 70s throughout the county, with nighttime lows in the 40s, according to forecasters. Partly cloudy skies are expected Sunday, the weather service said, with a chance of rain developing by Tuesday.
