Partly Cloudy Skies Expected by Midday

A slow-moving storm that dropped just enough rain Sunday to muss Ventura County drivers’ windshields and thwart outdoor plans is expected to give way to clearing, partly cloudy skies today, forecasters said.
But during today’s early morning hours, commuters may still encounter some light drizzle or rain with an occasional thundershower before the system moves out of the county, according to Bruce Thoren, a meteorologist with WeatherData, a firm that provides forecasts to The Times.
“It’s a fairly small system that broke off from a larger storm system out over the Pacific,” Thoren said.
“That’s why it’s somewhat weak and pretty slow-moving. Most of Ventura County should be experiencing partly cloudy skies by the time lunch rolls around.”
Thoren said today’s daytime temperatures will hover in the low to mid-60s in most parts of the county, with nighttime lows dropping to the upper 40s. Daytime winds will remain mostly calm but will carry occasional gusts of up to 15 m.p.h. in the late afternoon.
Long-range forecasts call for a dry period at least until the weekend. Another storm may move into the area Sunday or Monday, Thoren said.
