Emeka Okenwa had 22 points and nine rebounds to lead The Master’s College of Newhall to a 93-80 victory over Biola in the championship game of the NAIA Far West Region Independents men’s basketball tournament at Concordia University in Irvine Monday night.
The victory was the fourth in a row for Master’s (28-4), its 18th in the last 19 games, and propelled the Mustangs into the 32-team NAIA Division I tournament at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa for the first time. The tournament will be held from March 15-21.
Okenwa, a 6-foot-7 senior from Nigeria, sank 12 of 13 free throws in the game after missing all seven of his foul shots in an 88-84 loss to Biola last month.
Josh Rombach led Biola (24-10) with 23 points and Darryl McMillon had 20 points, 10 rebounds and 13 assists.
