Not much separates twin brothers Brad and Brian Finneran. Football standouts, they each accepted offers to play at Villanova next season. Strong students, their grade-point averages are within a tenth of a point of each other. They each have taken turns leading the Eagle basketball team. But Saturday in the Southern Section Division III-AA title game against Servite, Brad supplied most of the offense. He scored a game-high 26 points on 11-for-19 shooting from the field and also had six rebounds three steals and two assists.
Other notables:
* Rudy Gomez, Mater Dei, scored two goals in a 4-1 victory over Esperanza in the Division II soccer title game.
* Jon Surface, Pacifica, had 23 points and five rebounds in a 63-49 victory over San Dimas in the Division III-A title game.
* Shane Valdez, Calvary Chapel, won the State wrestling title at 119 pounds, leading the Eagles to their second consecutive team title.
* Jaret Wright, Katella, pitched a no-hitter with 11 strikeouts and hit two home runs and had four RBIs in a 7-1 victory over Laguna Hills.
