Airline Signs Pacts With 2 Foreign Carriers: Delta Air Lines Inc., making its first move into South America’s fast-growing air traffic market, signed a marketing agreement with Varig Brazilian Airlines that could lead to a code-sharing arrangement between the carriers. It also signed a letter of intent with Vietnam Airlines to cooperate in marketing and services, as well as working to enhance computer reservation systems, facilities and passenger handling. The companies said they will also explore closer scheduling and code-sharing on direct flights between the United States and Vietnam, which could be implemented once a formal air service agreement is reached between the two countries.
