BASEBALL DAILY REPORT : AROUND THE MAJORS : Sax Returns Home Wearing a Cast

Chicago second baseman Steve Sax returned home to California, wearing a cast on his left leg to immobilize his sore heel. Sax, 34, was expected to wear the cast for at least one week, White Sox trainer Herm Schneider said. The cause of the problem is unclear. The problem developed in January while Sax was running up hills during training. Sax hasn’t played in any spring training games.
