Superior Industries Claims Patent Victory: The Van Nuys-based maker of automotive wheels said it has won a civil action filed against the company by Motor Wheel Corp., alleging infringement of two Motor Wheel technology patents. Superior Industries International Inc. said that a U.S. District Court jury in Michigan found it has not violated either of the patents and that Motor Wheel is not entitled to damages. The action was served against Superior Industries on Feb. 4, 1993. Motor Wheel, a closely held automotive wheel producer based in Lansing, Mich., had no immediate comment on the verdict.
