Nine Camarillo companies or organizations were honored last week by the City Council for their recycling efforts.
Gold award winners in the city’s 1994 WasteWatch program included:
Siemens Solar Industries, for best resource conservation program; Bill’s Bike Shop for buying and best use of recycled products; St. John’s Pleasant Valley Hospital for best institutional recycling program; Jiffy Lube for best motor oil recycling; Kids, Moms & More, a specialty store, for best reuse of materials.
Anderson, Arstein, Roland and Sprague, a Camarillo dental group practice, and Sturman Industries, Inc. a valve manufacturer, received silver awards. Two Pleasant Valley School District facilities--Las Posas Elementary and Monte Vista Intermediate--also won special awards.
“With the dedication of businesses and organizations like our 1994 WasteWatch winners,” said Mayor Ken Gose, “our city is well on its way to meeting our goal of reducing wastes by 25% in 1995 and 50% by the year 2000.”
