Portugal Rail Strike

LISBON — International and express intercity trains were idle Monday as rail workers began a scheduled five-day strike to protest working conditions and pay disputes.
Employees--mainly train drivers and machinists--called the strike to win a reduction in their official workweek from 51 to 40 hours and to earn additional overtime pay.
