A Pitzer College professor, who is also a gay activist, has been selected as one of 48 civilian hearing examiners on the Los Angeles Police Department Board of Rights.
Peter M. Nardi, former co-president of the Los Angeles Chapter of the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD), was named to the post earlier this month by the Los Angeles Police Commission.
The Board of Rights consists of two police officers and one civilian selected from the list of 48. It hears cases of alleged police misconduct, determines the innocence or guilt of the accused officer and recommends disciplinary action.
Nardi will also serve on the Equity Task Force of the Board of Police Commissioners. The task force is an advisory panel that looks at bias and discrimination in the police department.
