MUNDY TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A truck hauling automobiles slammed into traffic stopped for the presidential motorcade, causing a firey chain-reaction that killed at least three people.
Fire crews were still searching through debris on Interstate 75 Monday night for other possible victims.
President Clinton, who spoke at the University of Michigan-Flint, issued a statement saying he was “deeply saddened by the tragic loss of life.”
People pulled one woman from a burning car but couldn’t get to another woman because of the intense heat. A woman and a baby were trapped in another burning car, witnesses said.
