OUTLOOK

Dionne played with her back to the basket last season on offense and averaged 6.7 points. This year, she will face the basket to take advantage of her outside shooting ability. Smith says Noonan, who averaged 11 points last season and was a second-team all-league selection, will be more aggressive and definitely score more. Chambers will also start. Smith said she has good offensive skills and will provide rebounding help. But inexperience in the backcourt might hurt the Eagles--sophomore Stone and freshman Morley will share guard duties. Peyrebrune is the team’s best outside shooter. “The inside game will be our strength,” Smith said, “if we can get the ball there.” Smith said after a year playing in her system, the Eagles’ execution should have improved. Despite their youth, Smith said the Eagles have a good shot at the league’s third playoff spot.
