Valley College quarterback Jim Arellanes has been named offensive co-player of the year in the South Division of the Western State Conference. Moorpark linebacker Jeff Maxey is the defensive player of the year in the North Division.
Basketball
The girls’ basketball teams of Palmdale and Chaminade highs will participate in the Jasper Place tournament Dec. 8-10 in Edmonton, Canada.
Palmdale Coach George Corisis took the Falcons on tours of Hong Kong and mainland China in 1986 and Russia, Sweden and Finland in 1988.
Coach Lisa Magorien’s Chaminade team played in the Jasper Place tournament in 1991.
