Blue Cross of California is offering free health screenings today and Saturday for anyone who makes an appointment, a spokeswoman for the medical insurer said.
The screenings--which include tests for hypertension, cholesterol levels and skin cancer--will be held from 8 a.m to 4 p.m. both days in the conference center at St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard.
Interested residents must make an appointment before showing up at the center, said Stacey Doss, a spokeswoman for Blue Cross. The number to call is (800) 274-9355.
Participants must also have a personal physician to whom test results can be sent, Doss said.
Each examination takes about 20 minutes, she said.
Blue Cross is offering the free service to Ventura County residents to gain exposure for its health insurance plans, Doss said.
More screenings may be offered later this year, she said.
