SUN VALLEY — A bicyclist was shot from a passing car Thursday, then collapsed as he tried to flee his attacker on foot, authorities said.
The man, who was not identified, died at a local hospital an hour later, Los Angeles Police Detective Mike Coffey said.
The shooting occurred at 4:30 p.m. in the 10600 block of Crockett Street near Wheatland Avenue in Sun Valley, Coffey said.
The bicyclist, believed to be in his early 30s, was riding west on Crockett when a white car drove by and a gunman fired several shots, striking him in the chest and neck, authorities said.
“He ran half a block and then collapsed in front of a house,” Coffey said. “Neighbors called 911 and brought out towels for his bleeding.”
Police had no suspects but believe that a pistol was used, he said.
