An express train headed from eastern Hungary to Budapest derailed Friday and slammed into a station building, killing at least 21 people.

At least 60 people were injured, National Police spokesman Laszlo Garamvoelgyi said.

The accident occurred at Szajol, about 40 miles southeast of the Hungarian capital, when the second car of an express train derailed and dragged three other cars off the tracks. The overturned carriages smashed into the station building, railway officials said.
