THOUSAND OAKS : Man Held After Car Hits Utility Poles

A Simi Valley man was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving in Thousand Oaks after his car sheared off a telephone pole and struck a Southern California Edison pole while he was driving on the sidewalk, authorities said Thursday.
The vehicle driven by David Rowan, 31, hit the pole after it ran onto the sidewalk on Hillcrest Drive east of Glenwood Place about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, authorities said.
Rescue crews extracted Rowan from the car.
