Beam Sets Moorpark Mark for Third Time

Jeff Beam of Moorpark College set his second school record in the last week and his third of the season Thursday when he cleared 15 feet 11 inches to place second in the pole vault in the Mt. San Antonio College Relays.
Beam, a freshman from Los Banos High, cleared 15-6 last Friday to break the previous school mark of 15-3.
Soccer
The Valley United Blast and the California Flyers, a pair of boys’ under-17 club soccer teams, both advanced to the quarterfinals of the Dallas Cup, an international youth tournament in Dallas.
In today’s quarterfinals, the Flyers, whose roster features nine players from La Canada High, face a Mexican team.
The Blast, whose roster includes Golden League player of the year Danny Nishiyama (Quartz Hill High), Jon McDonald (Alemany), Gabriel Ortega (Birmingham) and Kendall Simmonds (Royal), plays a team from Costa Rica.
Harvard-Westlake defensive midfielder Brian Angelini has orally committed to play at Amherst College in Amherst, Mass.
Angelini was a second-team All-Mission League selection in 1993-94 when the Wolverines advanced to the semifinals of the Southern Section Division III playoffs.
Angelini scored seven goals last season for Harvard.
