Gregory (Blackie) Blackman, a retired shop steward at Rockwell International and longtime Simi Valley resident, died May 7. He was 79.
Blackman worked 26 years as a mechanic at Rockwell. The Oklahoma native was also a Boy Scout leader and veteran of World War II, serving in the Army.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly Blackman of Simi Valley; two daughters, Amy Sue Van Rossen of Arizona and Linda Marhews of Simi Valley; a son, Nolan Blackman of New York; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday at Reardon Simi Valley Mortuary. Chaplain Dave Peckham will officiate. Cremation arrangements are being handled by Reardon.
