English-Language Bus Guides in Tokyo

New English-language maps of Tokyo’s metropolitan-area bus services, including detailed routes and information on fares and economy passes, are now available in the Japanese capital. Travelers may obtain copies at the tourist information offices at the Shinjuku and Tokyo bus stations and at major hotels. O’Keeffe Home Opens to Public

The northern New Mexico home and studio where Georgia O’Keeffe painted some of her most famous works are now open to the public on a limited basis. The artist’s dwelling in Abiquiu, about 50 miles from Santa Fe, is one of two properties O’Keeffe maintained in northern New Mexico. Many of her best-known works were inspired by the house and its views. Visitors must make reservations for tours that are limited to six participants on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Hertz Expands European Program

Hertz has expanded its European “Rent It Here/Leave It There” program, which allows travelers to rent a car in one city and drop it off in another for a drop-off fee of about $50. (Before the program started, fees of $140-$465 were common.)

Travelers can now pick up a car at more than 200 locations in over 100 cities (compared to the original 16) in Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Switzerland. However, the vehicle must be returned to one of 100 participating locations. In most cities, available cars include mini, economy, compact, intermediate, standard and full-size vehicles. The $50 drop-off fee does not apply to minibuses, vans, convertibles, prestige or luxury vehicles.

Puerto Rico Ends Water Rationing

Puerto Rico has ended all water rationing after heavy rains filled reservoirs. The Puerto Rico Hotel and Tourism Assn. had offered refunds to any hotel guest who was inconvenienced by a lack of water, but no one requested reimbursement, an official said.

180th Anniversary at Waterloo

The battle that vanquished Napoleon on June 18, 1815, will be re-enacted at 10:30 a.m. next Sunday on the 180th anniversary of the battle of Waterloo in Belgium. About 3,000 participants in period costume will take part. Napoleon was defeated by British and allied forces and exiled to the south Atlantic island of St. Helena, where he died in 1821.
