Granada Hills Man Dies in Crash

CASTAIC — A Granada Hills man driving at speeds of up to 100 m.p.h. died after crashing his car into the center divider of the Golden State Freeway at about midnight Thursday, a California Highway Patrol officer said.
Nicholas Lee, 28, was driving his car northbound on the freeway about eight miles north of Castaic when the single-vehicle crash occurred, said CHP Officer Wendy Moore. Lee was driving in the left lane at speeds between 90 and 100 m.p.h. when he attempted to pass a slower-moving vehicle in his lane, she said.
“He moved to the right to pass the vehicle, and as he moved back to the left he lost control and struck the center divider,” Moore said.
Lee, who was not wearing a seat belt, was crushed by the impact, she said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
