HESPERIA, Calif. — A 1,000-acre fire burning through dry brush temporarily closed busy Interstate 15 in the Cajon Pass on Wednesday.
Three northbound lanes on the highway were reopened about 7 p.m., when the fire was half contained, said Lenore Will, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Forest Service.
Authorities believed that the fire, which skirted a southwestern San Bernardino County area known as Oak Hills, would be completely contained by Thursday morning.
