San Gabriel Valley : Blue Line Extension Wins MTA Approval

The Blue Line might get a new end of the line--Duarte.
The Metropolitan Transit Authority this week approved an extension of the line from Sierra Madre Villa Street in Pasadena to Mountain Street in Duarte.
“We think it’s a great project,” said Cynthia Kurtz, director of Pasadena’s public works and transportation department. “We’ve always said that we hope to go as far east as quickly as possible.”
Elected officials hailed the move--which still has to compete with other MTA projects for funding--as a step toward curbing traffic on the Foothill Freeway. Passengers would be able go on farther to Claremont on Metrolink.
