L.A. County Art Groups Get Funds

Eighty-three county arts groups will share $442,000 in 1995-96 grants approved by the L.A. County Supervisors through the Organizational Grant Program and the National/State/County Partnership grant program.
Among the 40 recipients of organizational awards, which provide annual support for arts organizations with budgets of more than $200,000, are the Los Angeles Philharmonic Assn. ($124,000), Los Angeles Music Center Opera ($45,000), Center Theatre Group ($35,000) and Long Beach Opera ($20,000).
Additional recipients include the Glendale Symphony Orchestra, Long Beach Symphony, Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra and Pasadena Symphony ($15,000 each), and the Aman Folk Ensemble, Bella Lewitzky Dance Theatre and Los Angeles Master Chorale ($10,000 each).
Winners of the 43 National/State/County Partnership grants, which fund small and emerging groups, include About Productions ($8,000), Dance Resource Center ($6,500), Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles ($5,500) and the annual African Marketplace and Cultural Faire ($3,000).
