A La Habra man was wounded by gunshots to the head and chest in an early-morning confrontation Tuesday, police said.
Officers responding at 6:30 a.m. to reports of shots fired in the 800 block of East La Habra Boulevard arrived to find the man lying in an alley, Police Capt. John Rees said.
The victim was airlifted to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where he was in serious condition late Tuesday, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Rees said police have few leads and hope to interview the victim today. The victim, whom police would not identify, was known to officers from previous drug arrests, Rees said.
“The crime scene was rather barren,” Rees said. “Nobody was around to tell us about what happened.”
