ANAHEIM : Woman Shot After Court Appearance

An Anaheim woman leaving a Pomona court after a child custody hearing was shot and wounded Thursday, and her ex-husband was arrested, police said.

Sheila Walder, 32, of Anaheim was shot in the leg and arm and was transported to Pomona Valley Medical Center, where she was treated and released, Pomona Police Lt. Louie Hernandez said.

Walder’s ex-husband, Hubert Johnson, 35, of Pomona was held for investigation of attempted murder in lieu of $500,000 bail.

Four shots were fired at Walder from a handgun, Hernandez said.

The victim’s current husband, Clarence Walder, 36, was with her at the time of the 10 a.m. shooting but was unharmed, Hernandez said.

All three adults had been present at the hearing in East District Los Angeles County Superior Court concerning two children. Hernandez did not know the outcome of the hearing.

Johnson allegedly left the building first, armed himself and waited for the Walders to come out before firing, Hernandez said.

The shooting occurred a week after a fatal shooting in a downtown Los Angeles courthouse. Eileen Zelig was in a legal dispute with her estranged husband, Harry, when she was shot to death in a hallway. Harry Zelig was arrested.

Los Angeles County supervisors have taken up the issue of security at the county’s courts.
