PREP ROUNDUP : Hagan, La Habra Beat Brea in Water Polo

John Hagan’s three goals helped La Habra to an 8-7 victory over Brea Olinda Wednesday in nonleague boys’ water polo at Brea Olinda.
With the score tied, 6-6, after three quarters, La Habra (1-1) scored twice to win it.
Matt Flesher scored four goals for Brea Olinda (0-1).
In other nonleague boys’ water polo:
El Toro 23, Fountain Valley 4--Shane Lindstrom scored five goals and Shane Maag and Shaun Souza scored four each for fourth-ranked El Toro (1-0). Tim Causee had three goals for the Barons (0-1).
Laguna Hills 8, El Modena 7--Bjorn Barre scored three goals for host El Modena (0-2).
Marina 8, La Serna 3--Senior Stever O’Rourke scored four goals to lead eighth-ranked Marina. Keith Blandis and Drew Haiffner scored two goals each for the Vikings (1-0).
Santa Margarita 14, Downey 3--Bryan Walley and Justin Kroeze each scored four goals for visiting Santa Margarita (1-0).
In nonleague boys’ cross-country:
El Dorado 22, Troy 34--Alan Dakak of El Dorado finished first and teammate Jim Gross was second in the Hawks’ season opener. Dakak covered the three-mile course in 16 minutes 42 seconds. Gross finished seven seconds later.
In nonleague girls’ volleyball:
Bolsa Grande 3, Saddleback 0--Jana James had 13 kills and Jill Tantardini 10 for Bolsa Grande (1-1), which won, 15-6, 15-6, 17-15.
El Modena 3, Woodbridge 1--Nicole Terry had eight kills and six aces for host El Modena (2-0), which won, 15-5, 15-2, 7-15, 15-1.
Newport Harbor 3, Calvary Chapel 0--Julia Hecker had eight kills and seven digs and Laura Wilson seven kills and two blocks for fourth-ranked Newport Harbor (1-0), which won, 15-13, 15-12, 15-5.
Rosary 3, Whittier Christian 1--Yolanda Faes had nine kills for Rosary (2-0), which won, 15-8, 15-5, 9-15, 16-14.
