Datum Inc.: The Anaheim company said Wednesday that it has received a $1-million contract to install network synchronization systems in Mexico for a joint venture that includes MCI Communications Corp. The venture, Avantel, is a joint program between MCI and Banamex-Accival, a Mexican financial group. Avantel expects to invest $600 million over three years to provide telecommunications services to the Mexican network. The initial contract is for the first phase, and delivery is scheduled in the first quarter of 1996.
Avantel will require an estimated $2.5 million in synchronization equipment to complete the program, Datum said. The company designs and manufactures precision frequency products and timing instrumentation.
