Silence Amounts to Giving Consent

Robin Abcarian’s column “Coalition’s Big Gun: Supporters Who Vote” (Sept. 13) hit the nail squarely on the head.
If most people these days continue to be too cynical about politics to vote, they may wake up someday to find that Pat Robertson has become the U.S. Ayatollah, issuing daily governmental religious edicts to us about morals.
Our public schools will have become seminaries where only religious right dogma, like creationism, is taught.
And the coat hanger will again be the tool of choice of the back-alley abortionists.
Not voting is actually giving approval to the Christian Coalitionists, who are now well into the process of tearing down the longstanding wall between church and state.
Wake up, Americans, and vote.
