New President for Kaufman & Broad Inland Empire Unit

Steve Vliss has joined Kaufman & Broad Home Corp. as president of the home builder’s Inland Empire division.
Vliss takes over from Kevin Kirk, who moves to Kaufman & Broad’s corporate headquarters in Los Angeles as senior vice president, land development, effective Oct. 2.
Vliss previously was senior vice president and chief operating officer at INCO Homes Corp.
* Christopher R. Sherman has been named president of Pacific Enterprises International, a unit in the Pacific Enterprises companies that pursues utility-related investment opportunities abroad.
Sherman, 43, formerly a PE senior vice president, was responsible for the company’s Energy Management Services (EMS) and international business units. His appointment is effective immediately, and he will continue to oversee the EMS unit on an interim basis.
PE International is a wholly owned subsidiary of Pacific Enterprises, the Los Angeles-based parent of Southern California Gas Co.
* Sanwa Bank California has named Thomas C. Byrne to the new position of senior vice president and marketing director in its retail banking division. Byrne was previously vice president of marketing for Wells Fargo Bank.
* Frederick C. Meyer has been elected president and chief executive of Southern California Healthcare Systems, the parent corporation for Huntington Memorial Hospital, Pasadena, and Methodist Hospital, Arcadia. Meyer succeeds Allen W. Mathies, who is retiring.
