Gullikson Makes Rare Appearance on the Champions Tour This Week

Tom Gullikson, the U.S. Davis Cup captain, will be among those senior players competing Tuesday through Sunday in a Champions tour event at Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks. Gullikson, an infrequent competitor on the tour that has been dominated from its inception two years ago by Jimmy Connors and Bjorn Borg, will open against John Lloyd on Wednesday night. Opening matches Tuesday night will pit Mel Purcell against Tim Wilkison and Jose-Luis Clerc against Peter Fleming. Borg will play his first match Thursday night, Connors Friday night. The final will be 1 p.m. Sunday.
