OJAI : Artist to Sign Shirts to Benefit Libraries
- Share via
Renowned artist and centenarian Beatrice Wood will sign shirts imprinted with her self-portrait to raise money for the Ojai libraries.
Wood, 102, said she got involved in the cause when she realized she shared a birthday with the library, which opened in 1893.
Wood has operated a studio out of Ojai for more than 55 years and is best known for her ceramics and pottery.
The artist will show her support for the libraries by donating proceeds from the T-shirts to the supporters of Measure N and Measure O on the November ballot.
Measure N asks residents of the unincorporated areas of the Ojai Valley if they would be willing to pay $35 per parcel each year to support library services. Measure O asks Ojai residents the same question.
Wood will begin signing 250 T-shirts at 11:30 a.m. Friday in her studio. The shirts will be available to the public Monday for $20 each at the Ojai Library.
