PRO FOOTBALL DAILY REPORT : TONIGHT’S GAME : Not Much at Stake for Steelers, Bengals
- Share via
The Cincinnati Bengals (2-4) play the Steelers (3-3) in Pittsburgh tonight as both teams attempt to finish with a better than .500 record in the Central Division. The Steelers and Cleveland Browns are at .500.
The Bengals have tried to be entertaining on offense, with quarterback Jeff Blake (12 touchdown passes, four interceptions) and wide receiver Carl Pickens (AFC-leading seven touchdowns), but Cincinnati ranks 28th overall on defense.
The Steelers, who were a play away from making the Super Bowl last season, lost to Jacksonville in their last outing. Pittsburgh ranks seventh on defense, but the early-season loss of cornerback Rod Woodson has left the Steelers vulnerable to the big play.
The Bengals’ offense has topped 300 yards in six consecutive games--the first time since 1988 for Cincinnati.
