One person was shot to death and another wounded in an Artesia hotel Sunday by a man who then apparently barricaded himself in a room of the hotel, Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies said.
Searching for the gunman, believed to be a 68-year-old man, deputies sent a special weapons team to the Ramada Inn on South Pioneer Boulevard after the shootings occurred at about 5 p.m.
One wing of the hotel was ordered evacuated, forcing about 10 guests from their rooms, deputies said.
No other details were available late Sunday.
