Countywide : Stanton to Attend Dedication of Center

County Supervisor Roger R. Stanton is scheduled to attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony Saturday for a new day care center in Midway City, a venerable county unincorporated area surrounded by Westminster.
The county used a $318,000 federal community block grant to build the center, which includes several classrooms and restroom facilities. Jerome Kaplin, president of the Midway City Chamber of Commerce, said the child care center will fill an important need in the community of 8,200 people.
The facility is located next to the Midway City Community Center and Roger R. Stanton Park. It is used for various programs, including senior meals and Little League, Kaplin said.
Midway City is one of Orange County’s oldest and most independent-minded communities. It has long fought annexation attempts by surrounding cities, opting instead to remain part of the county.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled to take place Saturday about 11 a.m.
