STANTON — A bicyclist who tried to cross Beach Boulevard mid-block was struck by a car Monday and later died in surgery, sheriff’s officials said.
Reynaldo Hernandez, 22, of Garden Grove crossed the busy boulevard north of Hynes Road at 2:05 p.m. He was struck in the slow lane by a southbound Ford Escort driven by a 35-year-old Lake Forest woman, according to the Sheriff’s Department.
Hernandez had crossed a concrete raised median to get across the street in the middle of the block, sheriff’s officials said. No one has been cited in connection with the accident.
He was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where he died in surgery about 6:40 p.m.
