NEW HOME: The San Gabriel Unified School District is graduating to a new building.
The district office is negotiating with the Borden Co. to buy the 79,500-square-foot building when the dairy company’s subsidiary moves to Canada in May, Assistant Supt. Joseph Crawford said.
The move will give the cramped district more space and allow the whole operation to work under one roof. Right now the staff is scattered because the district’s 1,800-square-foot building is not large enough to accommodate all 51 administrative staff members, Crawford said.
Administrators would not comment on the cost of the building because a contract is pending.
The Clary Building stands across the street from the San Gabriel Mission and will become the district’s “permanent home,” Crawford said. “There will never, ever be a need to change.”
