Local Government Is Disillusioning

Regarding the Securities and Exchange Commission’s announced punishment of our county officials concerning the bankruptcy, especially the SEC’s exacting a promise from all concerned that they will “not violate security laws in the future”: One wonders what type of educated adults are involved on both sides of the issue. So the citizens of Orange County want the supervisors to hold televised evening meetings so that working people can attend them. Whatever can they be thinking? That this is a democracy?
It’s not surprising that there was a county bankruptcy if county policy is to run the local government secretly without citizen input. Perhaps the regal supervisorial salaries should be cut so that the supervisors would understand the concept that politicians are servants of the people.
