Faberge Exhibit to Open at Met

“Faberge in America,” featuring more than 400 objects created by legendary jeweler Peter Carl Faberge, opens Fridayat New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art. Among the items on display will be 15 of the 44 Imperial Easter Eggs commissioned by the last Russian czars, including the Catherine the Great Egg (pictured above). The exhibit, which focuses for the first time on collections assembled by Americans, will run through April 28 in New York and will then visit four other museums including the M.H. de Young in San Francisco, where it opens May 25.
