The National Aerobics Championships attracted nearly 100 competitors for the annual event that started Thursday at the Doubletree Hotel at Los Angeles International Airport.
The finals will be held Saturday at the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center.
A national panel of judges will evaluate 100-second routines for smoothness, presentation and flexibility to determine the seven athletes who will become the 1996 U.S. National Aerobic Champions.
The 11th annual competition is a fight among the fittest, said spokesman Laurence Cohen. In addition to the title of champion, contestants also are vying for a spot in the Olympics of aerobics, the World Aerobics Championships.
