Riordan Will Moonlight With Spot on ‘Tonight Show’

The wanna-be comedian whose day job happens to be mayor of Los Angeles has landed a guest shot on the top-rated “Tonight Show” with Jay Leno.
Mayor Richard Riordan, whose love of telling jokes has occasionally landed him in political hot water, will get to polish his technique and boost his national profile tonight.
L.A.’s biggest booster will be in Burbank this afternoon for the segment’s taping at NBC studios. The program airs at 11:30 p.m.
The script calls for Riordan to meet an Angeleno wanting to clear his conscience by returning a street sign he stole many years ago. Going along with the skit should be no problem for the mayor--but can he resist telling Burbank jokes?
