The Child Abuse Prevention Council of Orange County has raised nearly $90,000 that will be used to help sexually abused children.
The council has already donated $12,000 to the county to keep the South County Child Abuse Services Team office open.
Because of its bankruptcy, the county had threatened close the Lake Forest office, where sexually abused children go to be interviewed by investigators.
The council will donate more money to help pay the rent for the office and provide counseling for abuse victims.
The group’s fund-raising effort was bolstered by two $20,000 donations--one given anonymously, the other provided by the Sisters of St. Joseph Health Care Foundation.
