Car Theft Suspect Stuck in the Mud

A 24-year-old Oxnard man was arrested Wednesday in Thousand Oaks after a stolen car he was driving got stuck in the mud, authorities said.
Sheriff’s deputies were notified about 1:15 p.m. that a red Pontiac Trans Am had been stolen from the 1200 block of Calle Tulipan.
About five minutes later, a deputy spotted the car being driven south on the Ventura Freeway. When the deputy followed the car, the vehicle exited the freeway at Chesebro Road, authorities said. The motorist then drove over the curb and the vehicle got stuck in the mud, deputies said.
Luis Garcia Gomez was arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft and driving under the influence of alcohol.
Gomez was being held Wednesday at Ventura County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.
