U.S. Diplomat Resigns; Oversaw Bosnia Pact

WASHINGTON — The American diplomat who played a leading role in curbing North Korea’s nuclear program and is overseeing the Bosnia peace accords is resigning to take over the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service.
Robert L. Gallucci’s departure follows that of Richard Holbrooke, the chief U.S. negotiator on Bosnia and Secretary of State Warren Christopher’s main trouble-shooter.
Their resignations come as the Clinton administration pursues diplomatic overtures to rival ethnic groups in Bosnia-Herzegovina, struggling to keep the U.S.-led settlement of the four-year war on track.
